Effective one wall (in home decor)

There are so many designs, colours and techniques of how to decorate the wall that we might get dizzy from all of that. And what is worse there are no rules that we should have a wallpaper in more traditional interior and a photo wallpaper and wood on the wall in the modern house. Well, it's not that bad at all cause we have a wider field to use our imagination, play with colours, designs.

We can mix and match old furniture with new accessories and ornaments. Also with those on the walls. From a different side we can put new furniture and have the walls made in the traditional way with traditional wallpapers. The newest and the most effective, cheap way of decorating the walls is to paint only one of them. And according to trends it has to be intensive colour – purple, red, bronze. And what are the other ways to decor the wall (and not also wall)?

We might use decorative plaster. It has an unusual structure – irregular and rugged which makes a nice look of the wall. But there is one condition: it can't be covered up by furniture. Otherwise it loses decorative flow. Very effective is also Italian technique called ”stucco lustro” which means in English ”sparkling plaster”. It's quite expensive plaster that is imitating .... and reflex the light. But we can make ”stucco lustro” ourselves – easier and cheaper just by painting the wallpaper with a sparkling paint. Perfectly in yellow or orange colour.

To make an unusual wall we can just use a colourful wallpaper which will bright up the room. They wallpapers made of paper and made of material – first cheaper, second more expensive. Most popular now are the one with big flower ornaments, that has dark, intensive colours. But because of those colours and design they look good only in big, bright interiors. In a small room they will make a worse effect making the interior visibly smaller than it is.

Items that really look good on the wall are stone, woodFind Article, bricks. Matching them with such decorations like tablecloth weights or scented candles gives the room unusual look and climate that is reserved only to warm cottage houses. They will have an ideal prelude in a wicker basket on the stairs that will lead us to amazing room with stones placed one near another giving a unique design. Or into the room with old bricks! Very classic on one side and modern on the other side.

And as we can see we are able to totally change our interiors just by changing one wall. Small thing and a great effect.

Money Camps for Your Teen

Unemployment, runaway debt and a tight credit market is making it difficult for today's youth to start on the right foot financially. In this brief article, we'll go over the benefits of enrolling either you or your child in a financial literacy program, as well as how you can make an impact on their spending habits in your everyday life.

A term being tossed around a lot recently, often without a great understanding of what, exactly, it means, is "Money Camp." This is best used to refer to a financial literacy program, often targeted at teenagers or students about to enroll in an institute of higher learning.

Financial literacy programs are best used to train students applying to colleges or simply going off to live independently in how to best use their resources. Most high schools will also offer at least a basic economics course; however most do not give any practical money management information. High school courses lack essential lessons that prepare teenagers for the financial real world. Most do not cover the investments, credit, the mental game of money, and other practical finanical matters. Money camps are designed to give young adults a practical financial education and focus more on 'how to' rather than theory.

Unfortunately, there are no college preparation courses requirements in most states that requires high schools to teach students how to responsibly use credit and debit cards, how to divide up their resources to meet multiple ends, and how to differentiate between important and unimportant expenses.

Enrolling a student in a money camp is generally a fix for parents that can't teach their kids by example, and have tried without success to instill responsible spending habits in their child. This financial literacy program sets guidelines as to how proper financial behavior should be, and makes clear the ramifications of poor spending habits in the real world. Popular culture dictates that spending money on trivial, unimportant things is "cool," but most money camps will put a lot of stress on the teenager's ability to resist social pressures and properly balance pleasure with actual expenses.

There is a lot to be said about teaching a child financial responsibility, and if your child seems especially reticent to be mature about how they spend their money, consider a money camp. Most money camps do not actually involve sending your child away for any period, and instead function like after-school programs.

Is LASIK Right for Me?

The subject of LASIK is a very interesting one. There is a lot to investigate and understand about the process of getting your vision corrected through laser surgery. I hope this article helps to point you where you need to go to do the best research. There are both pros and cons to consider before submitting to this type of surgery.

First, if you are already firmly set in your decision to have LASIK, read these pointers:

1. Make sure you go to a doctor who uses the new Interlase laser for making the corneal flap.

Why? Because the Interlase is 100 times more precise than the 'old fashioned' method of using a microkeratome to cut the initial flap. Many speculate that most of the problems that come from LASIK surgery have been due to the impreciseness of the microkeratome device used to cut the cornea.

2. Most definitely insist on a custom wavefront laser to do the actual reshaping of the cornea.

Why? Because the custom wavefront can get rid of what is called higher order aberrations.

What does this mean to you? It means much sharper vision after the surgery and a significantly reduced chance of having halos, starburst and other 'complications' from LASIK.

Repeating: Make sure you go to a surgeon who is using both Interlase and Custom Wavefront technology to do LASIK surgery. Relatively few practices have these new technologies. Consider that surgeons who invest in these technologies may have more of your interests at heart.

One of the top 5 LASIK surgeons lives in Kansas City is durrievision.com. You should be aware of the potential problems of LASIK surgery. Common problems always relate to procedures that didnt use up-to-date technology such as interlase and custom wavefront technology.

One of the problems with LASIK, has been the LASIK 20/20 phenomenon. Some people do technically see 20/20 after the procedure but it is not normal. Instead, it is hazy or blurred. This is probably due to the higher order aberrations mentioned earlier. That is why it is important to get custom LASIK done. The custom wave front lasers can remove those aberrations, hopefully allowing you avoid the LASIK 20/20 phenomenon.

If your doctor says that you dont need the custom treatment, I would ask him if he has a custom wave front machine. There may be a few legitimate reasons to not have the custom procedure done, but I seriously doubt there are many.

If he doesnt have such a machine, I would wonder if his recommendation is based on the best thing for you as the patient. It always pays to get a second opinion anyway and in this case, you should.

These are your eyes that we are talking about and you owe it to yourself to get educated on every aspect of this surgery before undergoing treatment. The surgical eyes web site mentioned above is worth investigating. You need to know what could go wrong and how to choose a doctor and equipment that will allow you to avoid problems.

I will say it again. Try to go with Interlase to cut the corneal flap and try to go with a custom wavefront laser to reduce your risk of complications! I cannot stress this enough.

I went through a screening process to get LASIK done and was categorized as an excellent candidate. They even wanted me to participate in a study program that would save me about $600. I still turned it down. In the end, I decided that I didnt want to get my eyes lasered.

Of course, there is something to be said about not wearing glasses or contacts anymore and there are many happy patients out there. I just want you to be aware of both the pros and the cons.

Do you really need to have LASIK done? I think its worth it to investigate natural vision therapy and see what you can do about correcting your vision naturally before permanently etching your current prescription into your cornea.

Many people have gotten results from vision therapy. A few have even gotten rid of their glasses and /or contacts forever. An industry insider has informed me that this does happen but not very often.

There are a couple of books to check out on natural vision improvement if you are interested in that alternative. Relearning to See by Thomas Quakenbush is one that comes to mind.

The original pioneer in vision improvement was Dr. Bates. He was an early 20th century ophthalmologist who really stuck his neck out to go against the prevailing theories of the day (that still persist). Many of the people who he helped were very grateful, Im sure.

I have dabbled with naturally improving my vision. I have experienced a decrease of tension, but I have not recovered 20/20 vision. This type of improvement does take work and determination.

That is why there is LASIK today; everyone is different in their wishes and expectations. If you are in a hurry and you dont mind the permanent etching of a prescription in your cornea, LASIK might be for you.

I hope this helps you on your quest to learn more about LASIK Surgery and point you in the right directions to gain more information so that you can make an informed decision before deciding to undergo this often expensive elective procedure.

How to Choose a Good Car Tint Shop

Most metropolitan areas have an abundance of tint shop choices. In the San Francisco, CA area alone, there are 30 different tint shops within a 25 mile radius. How does a consumer choose the tint shop that does quality work? What is the difference between a 'Dr. Tint' and a 'Quality Window Tinting'?

We at TintCenter suggest that you do a little research. First compile a list of 5 potential tint shops that are likely to do good work. Ask your friends an co-workers who have tinted their cars which tint shops they chose, look in the Yellow Pages and mark down the tint shops with large professional advertisements, or come to TintCenter.com and get price quotes from a local tint shops.

Once you have this list in-hand, its time to interview each dealer:

- How long have you been in business at this location? Do you have other shops in the area?

Good tint shops prosper despite other local competition by offering good service at reasonable prices. You should find a tint shop that has been in business for 5 or more years at the same location, this shows a stable business that will be there years down the road if somehow the tint goes bad.

Often times successful tint shops also open car tinting branches in neighboring cities. Although the installers may not be the of the highest quality since opening new shops means training new employees; however, branches are a sure sign of a successful tinting business.

- What types of films do you carry? What warranty do you offer on your work?

Quality tint shops carry complete lines of window film from one or multiple window film manufacturers. They should carry dyed, hybrid, and metallic window films in a variety of colors and darknesses. Beware of tint shops that only carry one or two types of film, and sells them aggressively. They may have acquired this film on sale, and may not be thinking of your unique requirements and concerns.

The warranty on the car tint varies depending on the window film you choose. TintCenter recommends that you install only window film backed with a lifetime warranty for materials and labor. Most films don't guarantee color and fading, it is recommended that you also choose one that does.

For the warranty to take effect, remember to get only legal window tint for your car. Illegal tint automatically nullifies any manufacturer's warranty. Make sure you get a manufacturer's warranty card from the dealer with the date, the window film used on each window, and the total cost of installation.

- Can I visit your tint shop? Can you show me a sample of your work when I'm there?

Tint shops can sound like the best shop on the phone, but 15 minutes on-site should tell you all you need to know.

Good dealers pay attention to customer service. They should be happy and willing to spend the time to talk to you and explain how their shops work. Remember, if they don't spend time with you know, will they spend time with you when there is something wrong with your tint job?

A tint shop's work area should be indoors and clean. Their tools and window films are organized in a professional manner. If the tint shop is outdoors or in a parking lot, this is a negative since it is critical to remove all dust and dirt from the windows before applying window film.

Now take a look at a car they have already tinted. Pay attention to side-windows. The window film should be applied to the inside and be completely flush against all 4 edges of the window. Now look at the window film itself. Don't worry if the film itself looks slightly streaky and discolored, window film takes a couple weeks to dry out and become completely clear. If there are bubbles of air under the film or the film itself is not complete flat against the window, this is a sure sign of sloppy tinting.

Finally, take a look at the rear window. Is the window film applied in a single piece or is it cut into strips that surround the defroster lines? The most skilled tint shops always apply film in a single piece. Now look at the borders of the rear window, in many cars there is a black 'frit' edge on the window, Make sure the window film looks securely attached to the frit as well.

Finally, get price quotes from each dealer for the exact darkness, color, and type of window film you want. Never compromise because there are plenty of other dealers out there that will offer your perfect tint. With these price quotes and your research on each tint shop, make the decision. Refer to the cost of car tint article to help you rank the dealers.

After you make your decision, remember to always make an appointment with the tint shop before you tint your car. Even if they say 'drop-ins accepted' or 'bring it over any time', you want you tinter to be calm and prepared for you when you arrive and not rushed. Tinting may take a couple hours to half a day, so either arrange a ride or go to a nearby coffee shop with a good book. Enjoy!
